Product performance:

Burn gel dressing is impregnated with a 90% purified water, water-soluble gel. Sterilized by gamma radiation and with a 5-year shelf life, the dressing acts by drawing heat away from the skin surface preventing the heat from progressing deeper into the skin. The burn dressing also helps to relieve pain and protects the surface of the burn against airborne contamination

Instructions for use:

Carefully clean the wound and its surrounding area with sterile water or saline solution and dry the surrounding skin gently.

Select the right size of dressing for the wound area. Carefully open the sterile pouch to remove the dressing inside.

A secondary dressing is necessary when using calcium alginates. If needed, cut the tape and dressing using sterile scissors.

Dampen dressing with sterile water or saline solution to avoid damaging the surrounding skin, then secure it to the wound area.

For Heat Burns

Apply the burn gel dressing across the burn site. Allow the burn gel dressing to remain in contact with the wound for at least 30 minutes. If necessary secure the dressing in place with a conforming bandage, taking care not to apply too much pressure. Seek medical attention if the burn is severe or covers a large area. The burn gel is soluble and can be rinsed off by saline or sterile water if necessary.

For Chemical Burns

If it is a liquid chemical that caused the burn, the skin must be washed with cold water for approximately 15 – 20 minutes. If it is a powder chemical that caused the burn, this must be brushed off, then washed with cold water for approximately 15 – 20 minutes. Then follow the instructions as per the heat burn above. Product performance

These calcium alginate wound dressings are made of alginate fiber’s. When exudate from a wound comes in contact with the dressing, the sodium alginate present in the fiber’s absorbs the exudative fluid to form a soft gel. The soft gel is intended to create a moist wound environment at the wound surface to promote wound healing. The gel formed by the dressing does not adhere to the delicate healing tissues in the wound bed.
